About the lab
The laboratory infrastructure fully models a modern hospital environment, in which genuine clinical modelling can take place.

The lab makes it possible to test prototypes against clinical workflows, to validate devices in a real simulation environment, to run interoperability studies and to deliver education and training programmes. Its four main units – operating theatre (OR), intensive care unit (ICU), paediatric intensive care (PIC) and integrated health information system (HIS) – provide the conditions for complex clinical modelling.
Inside the lab
A short film about the centre: the units, the equipment and the way a development project runs with us.

OR · 01 / Operating theatre
Operating Room
The operating theatre unit models a fully equipped surgical environment suitable for validating surgical instruments, imaging systems, medical robotics solutions and surgical workflows.
Key equipment
- Operating table
- Ceiling-mounted surgical lighting system
- Integrated camera system
- Smoke evacuation system
- Electrosurgical unit (cautery)
- Patient monitoring system
- Anaesthesia machine and ventilation support
- Surgical instrument trolleys
- Sterile working surface modelling

ICU · 02 / Intensive care
Intensive Care Unit
The intensive care unit is used to model the care of critically ill patients, making it possible to validate life support devices, monitoring systems and intensive care technologies.
Key equipment
- Field patient bed system
- Multi-parameter patient monitoring systems, data concentrator
- Ventilation equipment
- Infusion pumps
- Simulation manikin (for critical care training)

PIC · 03 / Paediatric intensive care
Paediatric Intensive Care
The paediatric intensive care unit focuses specifically on neonatal and infant care development, providing prototype evaluation and validation in a specialised clinical environment.
Key equipment
- Incubator station
- Blue light (phototherapy) system
- Infant monitoring system
- Neonatal simulation equipment
- Respiratory support units
- Precision temperature control systems
Equipment pool
The equipment installed in the lab units is complemented by an integrated equipment pool for validation and development purposes, together with portable, wearable and prototyping devices.
